Before the first guest wakes up, the Nekupe housekeeping team is already at work. Some have been part of this place for years — long enough to know which rooms catch the best morning light, which guests prefer an extra blanket before they ask, and exactly how a space should feel before someone walks through the door.
Many of our housekeeping team have been with us since Nekupe’s inception, and they’ll tell you the work is less about cleaning and more about noticing.
For our team, Nekupe isn’t just where they work — it’s part of the land they grew up on. That connection shows up in small ways: a candle lit at just the right hour, fresh flowers from the property placed in a room, a note left for a guest celebrating something special. None of it is required. All of it is intentional.
That sense of ease guests feel when they arrive — of having been thought of before they even knew what they needed — isn’t policy. It’s people.
Our housekeeping team cares about this place and the people who visit it, and they take real pride in making sure every detail reflects that.
The next time you feel that quiet sense of “someone thought of this” during your stay, know it came from someone real — someone who chose, that day, to make your experience a little better.
That’s not a service standard. That’s just who they are.
